This is utterly disturbing.  I realise there may be other such prison’s in this world of ours, but if so, especially in developed countries, I wonder if they could be any more punishing or inhumane.

Are those at the “top of the chain” responsible?  For those in power, was it their choice to send these precious souls into this situation?  Was it their choice to even create such institutions?  I am sure the chain continues.

I really know very little about this situation, although I did see what I saw on television, which concerned me greatly, back then in the Russian courts where freedom of expression was stifled, as it seems so many things are in Russia, from the limited view of what I have observed.

Update : Both Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and fellow Pussy Riot band member Maria Alyokhina were released from jail late in December 2013.
