Some sort of meaning

So many people hold on to a religion, and that can be a wonderful thing, and there are so many other teachings, ideas, and concepts out there which we can gain knowledge from here and there, and experience so much and learn from that as well.  It can be really difficult to start with, like learning a skill, but having a healthy sense of scepticism is so important, taking a bit from here and a bit from there that’s positive, that really feels right in the heart, like a filter of the heart, mind, and soul, where the positive is retained, and the negative is let go, or not even considered.

There can often be a feeling of “There has got to be more to life”, and it’s always there, like a splinter under the skin that we just can’t rid of.  We’re always on the lookout for meaning.  And like I say, there are so many offerings out there in the world, spiritual and otherwise.  For myself personally, recognising and having experienced that there is a creator who helps us out and is there for us, where for example we somehow wonderfully find ourselves at the right place, at the right time, and even in the right frame of mind to make the most of it.  A bit like “Why did I decide to take that turn, or leave just then, or say that word, or read that page?”

We might try some spiritual teaching here, some concept there, that’s so awesome.  It’s my experience that we are co-dependant not only as far as society goes, but on a deeper and spiritual level as well, where without even knowing it, we find others give us just what we need in that moment, and thus for our life, and we may be able to offer something to them in the same way, especially at a subtle, spiritual, or wholistic level.

So yes, I feel there can be a part of us which never really settles, where we find ourselves going back to that “Why am I here?” question, often when we least expect it.  Religion might be a start, but for me, religion can also be so dogmatic, stifling, where fear and control finds itself, and not just religion too, there are tens of thousands of teachings and groups out there asking for our attention and wanting us to become involved.

I have experienced that there IS a reason for life beyond what any structured, or societal reassurance we might find – and for me, it comes from within, and it comes at the right time for everybody.  I have heard it from a politician right there in front of me as I stood and listened, “The only way to change the world is through politics”.  I don’t reckon.  I like to think I’m more optimistic and “realistic”, and feel that there can be a more holistic approach.  We can and will find more meaning, and my belief is that everyone will, absolutely everyone, without exception, no matter what we might have or have not done.  Consider what we consider to be the worst in Humanity.  There is hope,  for everyone.  Compassion goes beyond what we think with our everyday lives, that is my experience, at least.

The last thing I would do or try to do or attempt to do is offer some sort of “holier than thou wisdom” with how a person might find their way to fulfilment and true happiness – but at the same time there’s nothing wrong with trying to help others – saying just the right thing at the right time – but also knowing when to say nothing!  I think sometimes it’s better to let someone else pause, think, reflect, and come to an understanding, spiritually especially.  Please excuse this post!  There are many paths to the one destination, is another saying I like.  How do you reach someone in the Amazon?  They find spirituality in their own way.

I feel each and every one of us is our own best guide, having a “knowing from within” which may even just be a feeling or a thought, when in the end we’re able to separate the wheat from the chaff, and everything becomes so much clearer.  Every step is a progression to the next, and that’s how we grow in this world, spiritually too.

Thanks for listening!
